Room Selection Information for new students

Once you have paid your housing deposit and your access to myHousing becomes available, you can begin completing your housing application for the 2027–2028 academic year. 

Log in to myHousing and complete all required sections of your application. 

Both your housing deposit and completed housing application must be received by May 4, 2027, to participate in roommate matching and room selection. 

Submitting your housing deposit alone does not complete the housing application process. You must also log in to myHousing and submit your application by the priority deadline. 

myHousing portal

This is the deadline to complete your housing application and pay your housing deposit to participate in the room selection process. 

Students who do not complete both requirements by this date will be added to the housing waitlist. These students will not be eligible to participate in roommate matching or select their own room. 

Housing assignments for students on the waitlist will begin after room selection concludes and will be based on available space. Housing is not guaranteed.

Interested in living with students who share similar academic interests or experiences? Enhanced Learning Communities (ELCs) provide opportunities to connect with other students through a shared residential experience. 

Students interested in an ELC must submit their ELC application by May 4. 

Students accepted into an ELC will receive additional information about their community's room selection process.

Students who require modified housing due to a documented disability or medical condition must complete the housing accommodation request process through the Accessibility Resources Center (ARC). 

Students who do not complete the accommodation request or renewal process by May 4 are not guaranteed that their accommodation can be met. Requests approved after the deadline will be considered based on available housing space.

Housing Accommodation Request Process 

Roommate matching allows eligible students to connect with potential roommates and create roommate groups through the myHousing portal. 

Students who wish to live together must finalize their roommate group by May 11. Only students who completed their housing application and paid their housing deposit by the May 4 priority deadline are eligible to participate. 

You do not need to create a roommate group to participate in room selection. Students who do not form a group may participate individually and select from available spaces during their assigned timeslot. 

Participating individually does not mean you will have access to single rooms. You will be selecting an available bed in a room, suite, or apartment, which may include other students. Single rooms are extremely limited and are not guaranteed. 

Roommate groups and preferences are subject to housing availability.

myHousing portal

Students with approved housing accommodations will participate in a separate housing placement process before general room selection begins. 

The purpose of this process is to identify a housing assignment that meets your approved accommodations. An approved housing accommodation does not guarantee placement in your preferred building, room, or apartment. 

A limited number of housing spaces are made available for the accommodation placement process. Assignments will be determined based on your approved housing modifications, roommate group size, and available housing options. 

Your approved accommodations take priority over housing preferences. Depending on the accommodations and available spaces, it may not be possible to accommodate all roommate preferences or keep an entire roommate group together. 

Students who do not complete the housing accommodation request or renewal process by the May 4 deadline are not guaranteed that their accommodation can be met. Requests approved after the deadline will be considered based on available housing space. 

Eligible students will receive their assigned room selection timeslot, which identifies when they can access the myHousing portal to select their room. 

Be sure to review your University email for your assigned timeslot and instructions for participating in room selection. 

Students accepted into an Enhanced Learning Community will receive additional instructions specific to their community's selection process.

It's time to select your room! 

Eligible students can log in to the myHousing portal during their assigned timeslot to review available housing options and select their room for the 2027–2028 academic year. 

Students participating in roommate groups should follow the room selection instructions provided to ensure they select housing that can accommodate their group. 

Room availability changes throughout the selection process. Specific buildings, room types, and roommate preferences are not guaranteed.

Students who did not complete their housing application and deposit by the May 4 priority deadline will be placed on the housing waitlist. 

Beginning June 1, Residential Life will start assigning students from the waitlist to available spaces following the completion of room selection. 

Assignments will be made based on available housing space. Students on the waitlist will not be able to select their own room or participate in roommate matching, and housing is not guaranteed.
