Esports ManagementA concentration in B.S. Business Management

Now the most exciting sport to play and watch has come to the University of New Haven’s College of Business: esports. The industry has taken off and turned it into a billion-dollar reality.

Get into esports on the ground floor — or get left behind.

So, What Exactly Is Esports?

It’s the entire industry built around competitive video gaming. It consists of: the game publishers; the competitions; the teams of athletes, coaches, trainers, and publicists; the players; the media platforms the games are streamed on; the brands that sponsor them; and, of course, the fans.

Where You Come In

How do you and our B.S. in Management with a concentration in esports fit into all of this? Simple. Unlike traditional sports, which play by rules universally accepted by athletes and fans, esports rules are developed by the game publishers and can change at any given time. What might be a hit this year can drop out of sight next year. Since new technologies and games are always just around the corner, the industry requires people who can think critically and anticipate future cultural, business, and technological changes. That would be you.

We Prepare You to Compete

Our B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in esports was specially designed to be a truly comprehensive business degree with exposure to the esports topics that are critical for the person who wants to enter this exciting field. Building on our highly regarded sport management program — which has always been housed in our College of Business and has graduated over one thousand alums, who range from professional team executives and college athletic directors to league commissioners — the esports concentration provides a critical behind-the-scenes look at the industry and what it takes to thrive and succeed in it.

Hard business skills are the key to the program, and if you’re a gamer, it is these skills that will bring about your transformation into a egaming executive.

The Job Outlook Is Also Epic

HitmarkerJobs.com, a company based in the UK, has reported that in the first six months of 2019, the number of paid jobs in esports increased more than 210% from the first six months of 2018. Furthermore, an article in VentureBeat.com reports that more than half of all esports jobs are located in the U.S., with California having the biggest share of them, followed by Washington, and New York.
