Justice in America (LSTD 1105)

Study of the central role of law in American society with a review of historical development, purpose, and functions of law. The meaning of rule of law is explored with consideration of the tension between ideals and actual applications of law in the context of social issues. There is a review of basic legal concepts and an introduction to major substantive areas of law and analytic reasoning. Engagement with legal community through speakers. Questions of individual responsibility, morality, and justice under law is explored. This is a core class (7.1) The Individual and Society, Tier 1.

An Historical Interpretation of Criminal Justice Studies, Forensic Science and National Security (CJST 4445-01/FORS 4450-01/NSEC 4451-01/HIST 3386-01)

Through the use of case studies this course explores how Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and National Security research have altered our established beliefs about significant historical events. This is a core class (6.2).

Leadership - Global Examples of COVID Pivot Success (BUSA 4451 / 6670)

This course will study, analyze, and apply Case Studies of actual organizations that have made successful COVID Pivots in CY 2020 and positioned for CY 2021 to 2025. C-Level Executives from four real world companies will meet with the class via Zoom sessions. All companies are global businesses. HQ locations of the organizations are United States (two); Ireland (one) and United Kingdom (one).

Pandemics and Public Health Threats (HLTH 4455 and PUBH 6677)

This course challenges students to think critically about the novel coronavirus pandemic of 2020 and other public health threats. This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of epidemiology, outbreak investigation, public health practice, and the social determinants of health. Other topics include foodborne illnesses, disordered eating behaviors, racism as a public health concern, and other emerging pandemics.

Introduction to Academic Research and Project Management - Living in a Cyber World (UNIV 1141)

More than ever before, we work, play, and live online. The modules in this course will focus on strategies to navigate the cyber world safely and effectively. In synchronous sessions, students will learn how to work together in virtual environments to solve complex problems with creative solutions supported by reliable evidence. This course is open to students from all colleges and meets the requirements for CC5.1.
