Learn about songwriting and the music business!
Ever wonder what it’s like to attend a major label songwriting camp? One producer in Studio A finishing a beat, another tracking guide vocals in Studio B; a writer working on lyrics in Studio C, and another working out ideas in the lounge. This summer you can experience what it’s like to write songs and work in the music business.
Our one-week session will offer hands-on training in collaborative songwriting, as well as lessons on basic copyright concepts, revenue streams, music business roles, and what it takes to release your creative work on streaming services.
By the end of this one-week program you will be able to:
- Write your own music & lyrics and collaborate with others
- Investigate potential careers in the record business, music publishing, and the live concert industry
- Learn about marketing, branding and releasing your own music
Students must be completing a grade, 9-12th, in the 2024-25 academic year. No prior music business or songwriting experience necessary.
