About Kristen

After growing up in central CT, I left home for a decade long tour of the Atlantic coastline as I pursued my degrees. I began at Eckerd College in St Pete, FL where I received my BS in Marine Science. One year of teaching high school Earth Science led to a graduate school search and my M.S. at the University of NC Wilmington in Marine Biology with my research focusing on the cognition of Biology & Educational Theory/Evaluation. I spent the next 12 years working in informal K-12 Marine Science Education and Sail Training on Tall Ships, coming back to CT in 2007. My experience & research have led me to focus on first year undergraduate experiences and program design. My time outside of the University of New Haven is spent adventuring around CT & New England with my husband and two children.
