About Maddalena

While in Italy, Professor Lolaico taught Italian language courses for immigrant students and their families. In 2006, she moved to the United States and started to teach elementary, intermediate and advanced Italian courses at Southern Connecticut State University.

In the spring of 2011, she joined the University of New Haven where she has been working on curriculum development, as well as on the Italian placement test. In 2014, she created the first intermediate and advanced language courses, which entered the University of New Haven core curriculum, allowing the students to further challenge themselves in their journey to learning the Italian language.

As a language teacher, she is interested in the learning process of second language acquisition. She is always looking for effective practice and new learning methods to improve her teaching, convinced that teaching and learning are two processes that are continually connected.
