About Susan
Susan Lambrecht Smith, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology at the University of New Haven. She is a developmental psychologist and speech-language pathologist with clinical, teaching and research interests focused on the characteristics and underpinnings of reading and writing disorders from early childhood to adolescence. She has more than 28 years of combined experience as a speech-language pathologist in the schools and as an instructor in higher education. Susan’s current research is concentrated on examining the effectiveness of structured written expressive language intervention for children and in utilizing an implementation science approach to inform collaborations with teachers around structured writing instruction in the schools. She is co-director of the Written Expression Language and Literacy (WELL) Collaborative along with Dr. Charles Haynes.
