The University of New Haven and Future 5, a Stamford-based educational nonprofit, announced they have created a collaboration that will enable Future 5 student members accepted to the University of New Haven to receive 50 percent tuition scholarships, renewable for up to four years, to pursue a degree at the university.

"We are proud to collaborate with Future 5 to invest in the promise and potential of deserving students," said University of New Haven President Jens Frederiksen, Ph.D. "Future 5 is an exceptional organization that is supporting students who will excel as leaders in the workforce of the future. The can-do spirit of the two organizations aligns perfectly, and we are pleased to help support the life-changing work of Future 5 by creating new pathways to a college degree. Our primary focus as an institution is supporting the outcomes of our graduates and maximizing the investment of our students and their families. Ultimately, we are in the business of transforming lives, and the stakes could not be higher."

"This exciting partnership with the University of New Haven will provide under-resourced students access to higher education with less of a financial burden on their families," said Amanda Dubois-Mwake, executive director of Future 5. "We hope to build partnerships with more colleges and universities who, like the University of New Haven, understand that Future 5 student members are smart, talented, and highly motivated. They just need an opportunity to help them succeed. At Future 5, we call it 'the power of connection.'"

Future 5 students who apply to the university will have their completed applications reviewed within two weeks of being submitted, and they will have access to dedicated liaisons for admissions as well as the offices for financial aid, the bursar, and the registrar.

Additionally, the university will offer Future 5 student members the opportunity while high school students to take college courses at a discounted rate. University staff members will also offer virtual and in-person information sessions about the college section and financial aid processes for Future 5 members.

Since its founding in 2009, Future 5 has served more than 900 student members who take the initiative to join the organization, instilling in them a can-do attitude and teaching the importance of resilience, perseverance, and integrity. Future 5 student members take part in workshops and mentorship opportunities, building meaningful connections and a personal game plan to achieve their academic, career, and life goals.
