The Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program prepares students to become healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians in sports medicine.

Why Athletic Training?

Athletic training students assist athletes with enhancing their performance, training, help athletes recover from injuries faster, and work closely with sport medicine physicians to treat and prevent injuries. Athletic trainers work in a wide range of practice settings including:

  • Collegiate athletic programs
  • High school sport teams
  • Professional sports teams
Curriculum

The program consists of 5 semesters of full-time, onsite and hybrid graduate coursework taken in the Fall, Spring and Summer term. Students begin clinical training in the second semester of the program.

Eligibility

Students must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a 3.0 GPA. Students should have com-pleted the following prerequisites as an undergraduate: one year of anatomy and physiology with lab, one year of English, and one semester of biology with lab, physics with lab, chemistry, nutrition, statistics, general psychology and exercise physiology.
