Accelerated Dual Degree Program

For: Incoming first year students

Time to complete:
4 years

Benefits:

  • Enter the workforce sooner
  • Completion of bachelor and graduate degree in a traditional four year timeframe
  • Advanced earning potential with a graduate degree

  • Dual advisor assigned for special advisement
  • Save an average of 2 years obtaining both degrees together
  • No course overage charges for required courses

Application Process:

  • Students who are in the top 20% of HS class or have 1200 SATs or 3.5 HS GPA may qualify.
  • One application to both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
  • Students will have the Graduate Application created and reviewed automatically near the mid point of their last Undergraduate semester
  • At the time of admission to the University, students with superior academic qualifications will be notified on how to enroll in this unique combination program.

Requirements:

  • Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Calculated at the end of each semester.
  • Accelerated students have one semester of leeway to maintain a 3.0 GPA.
  • Summer Class Requirement

Summer Class requirement:

  • Yes, programs may require completing online summer courses with no tuition or fees charged to the student.
  • Students may take upwards of 12 summer credits based on program requirements
  • Please note: Online courses are considered to be “hosted” on the West Haven Campus or Orange Campus. Courses hosted or held on the Prato, Italy campus are not included within this summer tuition benefit. In addition, students may not complete Winter Intersession classes as part of this summer tuition benefit

Financial Aid Eligible:

  • Yes - An equivalent amount of Undergraduate institutional financial aid is awarded for all 4 years as long as the student remains eligible. Financial Aid that is undergraduate degree specific (Federal Pell/SEOG grants, Federal Parent Plus Loans, State grants, endowed scholarships, etc.) will not apply during the final year when taking graduate level courses
  • Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per term that apply toward their undergraduate degree until they confer their bachelor’s degree

Cost:*

  • Students are charged full-time undergraduate tuition and fees for all 4 years of the program. This includes year 4 when students take graduate level courses.
  • Students must enroll for at least 12 credits per term on the graduate level
  • Students may take a maximum of 12 Summer credits as part of the Dual Degree program, in addition to taking the Summer Incentive Course before full time matriculation
  • Winter Intersession courses are not included in this tuition benefit. Students may be prohibited from taking Winter Intersession courses due to their degree requirements, but if the courses are available to enroll, the student will be responsible for applicable fees
  • The Undergraduate Merit Based Scholarship will convert to a Graduate Dean’s Scholarship upon full time matriculation into the Graduate degree.
  • Students are required to complete one Fall and one Spring semester in order to obtain their graduate degree. Summer courses may be required at the graduate level depending on program requirements.
Accelerated 3+2 Dual Degree Program

For: Incoming first year students

  • Save an average of 1 year obtaining both degrees together

Application Process:

  • Students who are in the top 20% of HS class or have 1200 SATs or 3.5 HS GPA may qualify.
  • One application to both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs

  • If eligible, students may be awarded four (4) years of undergraduate financial aid and one (1) year of graduate aid as long as students remain aid eligible while in the Dual Degree Program. Financial Aid that is specific to undergraduate degrees including some institutional merit and need-based financial aid, Federal Pell/SEOG grants, Federal Parent Plus Loans, state grants, endowed scholarships, etc. will not apply during the final year.
  • Students will maintain their undergraduate merit-based scholarship for four (4) years. Undergraduate merit-based scholarships will not apply to year five (5). See Cost section below. Instead, eligible students will receive a Dean’s Award that may equate up to 20% of graduate tuition, which is applied to their per credit rate. The Office of Graduate Admissions will determine eligibility for graduate level scholarships.
  • Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per term that apply toward their undergraduate degree until they confer their bachelor’s degree.

  • One application to both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
  • Students will have the Graduate Application created and reviewed automatically near the mid point of their last Undergraduate semester
  • At the time of admission to the University, students with superior academic qualifications will be notified on how to enroll in this unique combination program.

Requirements:

  • Students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Calculated at the end of each semester.
  • Direct Entry students have one semester of leeway to maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Summer Class requirement:
No summer class requirements, summer classes can be taken at typical cost to student but must be done with advisor knowledge as it can alter the balance of the UG/GR degree.

  • Students will receive a Graduate Dean’s Scholarship which is a 20% scholarship for the Graduate Tuition Rate, once they matriculate full time into Graduate School. Undergraduate Merit Based Scholarships do not carry over when the student matriculates to full time Graduate study.
Graduate Pathway

For: Current University of New Haven standing, and transfer students

Time to complete:
Approx. 5 years, depending on program.

Application Process:
Typically, Students apply in the first semester of their junior year through graduate admissions using a quick application process.

Requirements:

  • Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Calculated at the end of each semester.
  • Pathway students DO NOT have any leeway and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

No

NOTES:

  • Undergraduate Tuition is billed in a block fee which allows students to take 12-17 credits per semester. Merit based scholarship and other financial aid is subtracted from this cost, equally for each semester.
  • Graduate tuition, students are billed for the amount of registered credit at a per credit rate. Graduate scholarship reduces the per credit rate.
