Financial Aid Application Process for Returning Students Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 Terms
To be eligible to receive financial aid at the University of New Haven for the 2025-2026 academic year all applicants must have applied, been officially accepted and matriculated for admission, and be enrolled in a degree program. Students who have an admission/matriculation status of "in process" or are enrolled in personal enrichment programs are not eligible. Federal regulations mandate that students can only receive financial aid for classes that count toward their degree, certificate or other recognized credential. To be considered for most financial aid programs, students must meet the satisfactory academic progress requirements, be in good academic standing, and be enrolled in at least a half-time status.
To apply for financial aid:
- Complete & submit the 2025-2026 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- University of New Haven School Code for the FAFSA is 001397
- The 2025-2026 FAFSA is available now
- Graduate Students are considered independent students for financial aid purposes, therefore parent information is not required on the FAFSA
Note: On the FAFSA, each contributor will be asked to provide consent and approval which allows their federal tax information to be transferred directly from the IRS into the FAFSA through the Direct Data Exchange (DDX).
- If additional paperwork is required, the Financial Aid Office will send emails to students to request
- If you receive financial assistance or scholarships (excluding student loans) from an outside source (including employer tuition reimbursement) for the 2025-2026 academic year, you must notify the Financial Aid Office.
- Students planning to enroll in summer courses must complete a Summer Financial Aid Application (typically available in late March).
- Summer is the last term of the year so eligibility for financial aid is limited based on the financial aid you have already received for the academic year.
- Students who received financial aid in the fall and/or spring term prior to summer, must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to be considered for most financial aid programs for summer.
NOTE: Financial Aid applications must be completed and loan applications certified prior to the last day of the term for which you are seeking aid.
