Exceeding the Challenge: Shaping the Next 100 Years
Since the public launch of the Charger Challenge in 2016, we have raised more than $167 million, far exceeding our goal of raising $100 million in honor of our Centennial year.
Signature successes of the campaign include:
- Creating the Bergami Center for Science, Technology, and Innovation, made possible by a leadership gift from Sam and Lois Bergami
- Receiving the largest gift in the University’s history from Charles E. Pompea ’71, ’90 EMBA, his wife, Tamera, and the Pompea family, leading to the dedication of the Pompea College of Business
- Fortifying the foundation for transitioning our athletics program to Division I, highlighted by the commitment of David Peterson Jr. ‘88, ‘17 HON. to fund the establishment of the Peterson Performance Center
- Increasing significantly the amount of financial aid awarded to our students
Thank you to our Charger Challenge co-chairs Phil Bartels ’11 HON. and William Bucknall Jr. ’63, ’65, ’08 HON. and the more than 20,000 alumni and friends from across the globe who invested in our mission. All Chargers should take great pride in what we have achieved.
Without a doubt, our future is bright — and filled with unlimited possibilities — because of you.
